Tips to Get More Rentals!

Return to blog

If you have a bike on Upcycle and want to increase your rental frequency, follow these five tips:

  1. Increase Trustworthiness
  2. Enhance Description
  3. Price Competitively
  4. Improve Merchandising
  5. Discounts For Longer Terms

1 - Increase Trustworthiness

Update your profile photo and complete your ID verification directly in your account. Renters like to know who they are renting from and showing your profile photo can help them identify you.

2 - Enhance Description

Add information that could help your customer make a decision:

  • Where do you like riding it?
  • What is it excellent at?
  • How tall you should be to ride it
  • What pedals can you offer?

3 - Price Competitively

Most bike shops charge between $75-125/day to rent a current generation top-tier bicycle with top-end components (Sram Red / XX1 and Shimano Dura-Ace / XTR). If your bike is less flashy, consider offering a lower price. If you are still not sure, check out some popular listings on Upcycle:

4 - Improve Merchandising

Take photos using the photo guide, the more the merrier. Sometimes renters want to use a specific component so highlighting anything unique is a plus.

5 - Discounts For Longer Terms

Longer-term rentals are great because they minimize the handoff process and attract customers (e.g., business travelers) who are visiting for the medium term.
